Tanghalian (Lunch)






Pagkatapos na pagkatapos ng SFC International Conference na ginanap sa parking area ng SM City Cebu, kami ng aking kuya ay sumama sa kanyang kasintahan at nakababatang kapatid (na kasama rin namin sa Singles for Christ) papuntang Lapu Lapu City upang sunduin ang kanilang isa pang nakababatang kapatid at ang pamilya nito.

{Right after the SFC International Conference that was held in the parking area of SM City Cebu, my brother and I went with brother's girlfriend and younger sister (who are in the Singles for Christ as well) to go to Lapu Lapu City to meet up with their younger brother and his family.}

Plano na bago pa ang conference na kami ay kakain ng tanghalian sa Lapu Lapu City para matikman namin ang lutong SuTuKil, na sikat sa Cebu. Dahil nais din namin makita ang Lapu Lapu Shrine, dito na rin kami sa malapit kumain.

{It was already a plan even before the conference that we will eat lunch in Lapu Lapu City so brother and I could taste SuTuKil, which is famous in Cebu. Because we also wanted to see the Lapu Lapu Shrine, we decided to eat just near the place.}

Sa mga SuTuKil restaurants, ikaw mismo ang pipili ng mga lamang dagat na nais mong kainin. Ang mga pagkain ay binebenta kada kilo, at pagkatapos mong pumili ay ikaw na rin ang magsasabi sa kanila kung paanong luto ang gusto mo. Idadagdag na lamang sa bill ang bayad para sa pagluto at iba bang sangkap na ginamit.

{In SuTuKil restaurants, people will choose the seafoods that they wanted to eat. These seafoods are priced by the kilo, and after choosing, people will tell the staff how they wanted to foods cooked. The price for the cooking and the other ingredients used will just be added on the final bill.}

Pero ano nga ba ang SuTuKil?

{But what is SuTuKil?}


Su = Sugba, o i-ihaw.

{Su = Sugba, or to grill.}


Tu = Tula, o iluto sa sabaw

{Tu = Tula, o to simmer in a tasty broth}


Kil = Kilawin, o iluto sa suka.

{Kil = Kilawin, or to drench and cook in vinegar.}

Bukod sa napiling tangingue, bumili rin kami ng pusit na ginawang calamares at inihaw. Isang napakasayang pananghalian para sa amin, at isa rin iyong masayang pagkakataon upang magkakilala at bawat pamilya.

{Aside from the Spanish Mackerel, we also bought some squids that was cooked into calamares and some were grilled. It was a fun lunch for us, and was also a great chance for the families to get to know each other.}


Ang pananghalian ay inabot ata ng dalawang libo. Medyo mahal, pero para sa pitong tao na nagsalu-salo, sa tingin ko ay okay na rin yun. Paminsan minsan lamang naman ito mangyari kaya ayos na ring gumastos. Masarap ba ang SuTuKil? Siguro ang mga pinagkainan na lamang ang makasasagot nyan.

{The lunch cost more or less 2,000 pesos. Quite expensive, but for seven people who enjoyed the feast, I think it was all okay. Besides, family gatherings like this one doesn't happen everyday, so might as well splurge a bit. Is SuTuKil a great dining experience? I will let the dishes answer that question.}

talagang di dapat makaligtaan sa pagpunta sa cebu ang pag punta sa SUTUKIL. Happy LP

dito rin ang first destination ko noong bago pa lang ako bumibisita sa Cebu. walang kamatayang sutukil.:P
